Ineptitude
I'm not sure what this rant is going to be about. It's been screaming to escape my neurons for the past three days, so I guess the best way to get it out is to let it go.
I suppose the main thought that has been floating around deals with ineptitude, or maybe an inability of people to realize their own ineptitudes. I'm not writing this as a personal ego boast, don't get me wrong. I suffer from many of these same afflictions, as does everyone. Does this mean that we must simply accept them and that's that? Hell no, it doesn't. In effect, we need to learn how to see these failings and bring them to light, then to cast them off and grow. The main failing of the human race is that we seem to have trouble rising above ourselves and growing. If we could only master the ability to grow, I believe that we would be much farther along as a culture and much more advanced.
Ok, enough of the perfect-society-psychobabble. What do I mean by ineptitude? What are these failings that I'm talking about? Some of the biggest wastes of human flesh are those that feel they owe society nothing and that they have had such a hard-suffered life that they are owed by society. Guess what: every time that you think your life is total shit and you have no reason to live because it will only get worse, put yourselves into the shoes of someone who really has had a shitty life. No, not the people who had to earn every dollar they've gotten. Not the person who is addicted to drugs and is in a "personal hell". We haven't even reached those stages of humanity yet. I'm talking about the people in third world countries that have to fight daily for scraps of food, if they can even find any. The people whose entire existence consists not of worrying about paying taxes or whether they're getting fat, but of those that have to live in fear of their governments and military taking the few pieces of clothing or shelter they do have. Think of the ones that not only suffer from these impoverishments, but those that at the same time have diseases or ailments that keep them from any hope of rising above their stature.
The next time you whine about how your job is too hard, you're not getting paid enough, or that you will never get anywhere with your life, think about these people. I don't want you to dwell on the misfortunes of them. That's not my point at all, but if you learn to take what you have and turn it into positive reinforcement and make something better out of it, you will get much farther and society as a whole will benefit from it. One person rarely has a serious impact on the world, but it can and does happen.
